It's been a minute, and really quiet! Working on a few commissions since AWA and a few special projects I'm not gonna reveal yet until everything is finalized. One is a small collection of drawings, featuring galazies, shiny gold and planets in the form of naked ladies~~

 Meanwhile, this post is in reference to a visit I made to ATHICA last Thursday to see the pieces in their first juried exhibition! I didn't have the funds to submit a piece, but everyone had such interesting artwork. Come check it out by pressing the continue button!

It's been a minute since I last posted, sorry! I've been busy with con stuff, but a few things fell through (waitlisted at both Momocon and Animazement, work prevented me from going to Hamacon, and couldn't go to Nashicon due to a suicide attempt a week before) but I suppose in the end, getting art done did push me to be prepared for my home con (though financially I wish I was able to get other stuff pumped out such as makeup bags and art books, ahh well).

In the meantime, this post is about my trip to the High Museum of Art yesterday with my girlfriend. A number of pictures were ones I took, while a few are from the website (either my phone died or we were having too much fun in one particular exhibit, hahaa~). Special thanks to my grandmother's friend Frank for allowing us to use our guest passes with your membership, we both enjoyed ourselves a lot! This was also the babe's first visit to an art museum, so I'm really glad she enjoyed herself~

Love, In All Its Many Forms

It's been a long time since my last blog post, I apologize for that. I figured I would be somewhat productive before a meeting I'm attending and update this blog with the post I've promised to a few people.

This year, I've actually re-coloured a few of my older pieces and now I like them again, thank goodness! So one picture I originally did for zozxox's zine "Too Kawaii to Die" (celebrating the art that introduces cute to all things creepy, sad, strange and dumb) was revamped.

How does that saying go...? Out with the old, in with the new?

At the time, a new art shop opened in downtown Athens, called the Kristen Ashley Artist Shop (if you're from Athens and not aware, they sell art supplies, hold classes, do printing services and even has a separate room where you can take photos of your art for print!) and the staff hosted an art show called Love: In All it's Many Forms to celebrate Valentine's Day.We were requested to write what your definition of love was, so I wrote--

"Before you can love others, you need to master the art of loving yourself. It may seem harsh, but one of the biggest steps involves cutting out the negative people in your life. Love radiates best from positive experiences in your life"

About three weeks after the art show, the girl I was dating at the time and I broke up, and I learned at least one thing about myself; I'm not a huge fan of people, but when it's someone I care for, I'm definitely a people pleaser. I try my best to make other people happy, but at the expense, it damages me (not to say dating her didn't make me happy; it was quite the opposite! It's just the aftermath that I'm not really gonna get into). Compile that into work related mess, and I just... haven't been myself for the past few weeks.
Meanwhile! I took a few pictures from the art show, so I thought I'd compile them all to one post~

ATHICA Mystery Triennial

Hello!~ (*´꒳`*)

It's been a minute since I did a blog post! I've been working on a few things, some which are supposed to be kept secret until the event happens (ex. two Digimon collabs for an anniversary) or until someone buys the piece, which in this case is the ATHICA Mystery Triennial!

This is a fundraiser where over 100 artists make a piece, and each piece goes for $60 (or 2 for $100, each piece after that is $50 and if you buy over $500 work of art, the next one is free). The work is anonymous until someone buys the piece (it's to prevent people from buying a piece just because it's attached to someone popular's name, which in turn, is supposed to introduce people to new artists... but it was interesting hearing other people try to guess which artwork belongs to who, hahaa~). The event was really rad and there was some amazing artwork there~ There are still some pieces up for sale, so do check it out if you're in the Athens area!

Beverly and I attended the opening night, and I took bunches of pictures. Some of the artwork I took have been sold already (some have the red dot next to the number, and some received one shortly after I took the picture. I'm not sure if mine sold or not, so for now, I'm keeping it a secret), but I'll at least be able to show you some of my personal favourites （人´∀`*）

Wonder Cookie

It's been a crazy stressful previous year, in a sense. But crossing fingers that the this year will bring something better. ლ(´﹏`ლ)
In the meantime, I haven't been all that active just about anywhere. Part of that was because a local lolita Chelsea/cherichan commissioned a piece of her and her best friend, Brittany/wunderfluff, in Angelic Pretty's Wonder Cookie. It was gonna be a surprise, but I guess she spilled the beans early, hahaa~
This was one of the easier AP prints I have done so far, but sometimes I have to wonder about AP's colour combos. The white colourway has pink, blue and... green. Not like a minty green, but like... an emerald green. Despite that, the print was a lot of fun to draw, along with the details like the lace on the bust area. More under the cut; it's pretty pic heavy~

It's been a minute since I made a post; been busy with AWA and commissions. As a small announcement, I will also be participating in an art show from our local gallery.

ANYWAYS! I've been at a limbo about going to AWA or not because group ticketing kept falling through. In the end, I didn't get a ticket at all, and just participated in the fashion show.
I was selected to model in Putumayo, and so were about 13 more people. Out of everyone in my local lolita community, there was also Miss Kapu and Colleen (at least, who I could recognize. You'd be surprised how many people I zoom by because I am TERRIBLE with faces, especially new ones OTL)

Bilge Rats, Mahou Shoujos and Realism

I have a sketch book where I draw pictures pertaining to lolita fashion. I have had it for awhile, but started actually using it in November of 2011. Since then, despite a few crime worthy pictures to say the least, 20 illustrations have been added, including the three below!~ ヾ(＠† ▽ †＠）ノ

It's summer time! ~ Despite Georgia's abysmal weather (rain for damn near two months! ) it's always this season that has me obsessed with sailor lolita. This dress in specific is one of AP's pieces.

Another AP dress, with a magical girl theme, sorta. Even the wand has AP on it, hahaa~ adding the dress pattern with opaque paint markers was my favourite part! ♥

Heyou~
It's been full of ups and downs since Frill, but some news this week had brought me down terribly.
One of my friends from our local community was killed in a car accident. She has contributed a great deal for the Lolita community besides bringing in positive energy from our own community (most probably know her best as Amethystcitrine, from EGL/Lolibrary), and she will be greatly missed.

In her honor, I'm gonna do my best to work on a short comic I had talked with her about a few years ago, and get it done by the end of the year.
In the meantime, there was a new picture I wanted to draw for her before AWA, but it looks like that's not gonna happen. I'll make a new one regardless, but it's really sad that I won't be able to give it to her in person. Maybe I'll just send it to her family or something?

It has been a crazy stressful year, I can say that.
First off, for those who don't know, I decided not to go to Frill this year; not only is money tight, but emotionally, I am drained and just not in tht hyped mode like everyone else is. It's not the con at all, because it has some wicked awesome events going on, but there has been a lot of things going on where depression is kinda hitting hard. I seriously am drained from covering everything up, and if I have a mental breakdown like I did at AWA a few years ago, that would spell disaster.
However, I am in the process of forming my storeenvy account, now that I figured out the shipping ordeal, so expect that in a few days~ ヽ(；▽；)ノ
To make myself feel better, I did make a few purchses. Two things I bought online, but one I am SUPER stoked about physically getting in the mail--

Daft Punk's newest album, RAMs (Random Access Memories)



I bought it online via Amazon, and didn't realize until I checked my email that I was able to listen to it now through Amazon Cloud on the mp3 app~~ ♥ So can I mention how much I LOOOOOOVE Lose Yourself to Dance and Touch right now?! Most of my other purchases included clothes, so yeeaaahhh.
Other than that, I'm working on a piece atm. Originally it was done with watercolours, but after some frustration, I am doing it with Crayolas OTL

I'm actually a bit further now; most of the skin is done. Most likely it'll be finished by the end of the weekend (I wanna say by Saturday night) so keep a lookout for that too.

Prep Time - Frill 2013

Heyoouuuuuu~~ ⊙ω⊙

So Frill is coming up very very soon (like, 2+ weeks soon) and I'm still in the process of getting everything ready OTL;; I just graduated (still waiting on my degree yo!) and with no job, this means no consistant flow of money coming in. I still need to prepare prints for Frill, so this is gonna be a bit of an issue. ⊙﹏⊙

However! I finished up my Sailor Lolita picture, huzzah~!!

Then with Twitter, I took a few pictures of a new piece, although I'm not sure if I'll be finishing it in time for Frill or if I'm just gonna work on new watercolours for the occasion.

First off, I went to Michaels and finally got both a watercolour set and a multi-media sketchbook that'll take watercolour

 

$15 saved, aww yiiissss~!!

 

And I worked on another sailor lolita piece, but later on I disliked it and decided to just transfer the sketch onto a dry media sketchbook for coloured pencils again

 

 

 

I will conquer you one day, cray mediiiiuuuuummmm.......!!

Just Keep Truckin' Along~

First off, I have been WAAAAAYYYY too obsessed with Sonic the Hedgehog music recently, and ran into a bunch of remixes via tumblr and soundcloud. Well, one particular tumblr mentioned the release of the new-ish album by the Sonic Stadium Adventure team, and I freaked OUT! I downloaded their 2011 album some time ago, but completely forgot they were releasing their 2012 stuff! Σ(゜ロ゜;)
My list of songs I am absolutely in LOVE with is... pretty large. One in particular that I literally screamed at my screen for is a piece from an artist by the name of General Offensive. To Spagonia! is a different take on a super annoying level from Sonic Unleashed (X-Box 360), where Sonic and Tails ride the X-Tornado and stop Eggman's Fleet. But the music is so good (both the original and the remix) that I was literally rolling on the floor in glee, hahaa~

With that said, I had one more project to finish in my Digital Tehcnologies in Business class, which was to make a 3 minute movie using Windows Movie Player. Since I already made a couple of videos for speed-drawing purposes, I created kinda a recap video to see how my art progressed (slowly, but surely man).

As a reference to myself, I'm making a new post as a guide to a new series I am working on, the "Kawai to Kowai" collection.
If you all watch me on tumblr/FB, you probably already know the deal. Basically I make a collection of drawings based on sweet lolita prints, and put a creepy/gore twist to them. One I finished up awhile back was SURGERY Carnival, in reference to Angelic Pretty's Sugary Carnival~ Before I said never again am I drawing this print, but since I now have the tote bag, I'm hoping it's easier to distinguish colours OTL

Lovin in the Summer Time

I wasn't sure it quite sunk in yet, but I have 2 weeks left until I graduate~!! ∑(O_O；)
Meanwhile, next to school projects and finals, I am prepping for Frill 2013. If you don't know what it is, it's a convention dedicated to lolita fashion, located this year in Decatur GA (one of my favourite places in Georgia, to be honest~). I will be holding an artist alley's table there, and hopefully I will be in the fashion show, crossing fingeeeerrsssss~~~~ ( ꒪Д꒪)ノ

First off, hello! (●´∀｀●)
I am going to try my very very best to keep a blog running, I promise!
Before a bit of an introduction, I should probably explain a bit about this blog. It's gonna be somewhat of a personal-ish blog, with art and fashion and a bunch of other stuff that strikes my fancy.
First off, when I visit my grandmother, or when my grandmother visits the family, we usually go to a Spiritual Center on Sundays for service (Science of Mind/Spiritual Center falls under a service that promotes "spiritual growth" by being more connected with the nature of the Universe, in a sense. The church I go to in Atlanta, the Trinity Center of Spiritual Living, can explain it much better than I can, hahaa~). One of my favourite quotes comes from the guy who kinda pioneered spiritual living, Ernest Holmes.
